Questions
What retailers do you monitor?
Currently only Target and Best Buy, but hopefully adding Amazon and Walmart soon.
Are you going to add [insert retailer name]?
🤷 I'll add more retailers over time, but which ones and when will depend technical difficulty and how friendly their APIs are to third-parties.
What products does Cardstock monitor?
Currently Magic: The Gathering and Pokemon cards, with a focus on products that sell out quickly.
How fast are the alerts?
Target and Best Buy stock is checked every 1-2 seconds. The goal is to get to a one second refresh on every retailer. Notifications typically arrive within a second of detection.
Will this guarantee I get the product?
No. It gives you a better chance by getting you there faster, but high-demand drops still sell out quickly. This helps level the playing field a bit.
Can I get banned or blocked by a retailer for using this?
No. All the monitoring happens on our servers, not your browser. The extension only connects to retailers when it opens a product page for you - which looks exactly the same as if you clicked a link from anywhere else. From the retailer's perspective, you're just a normal shopper.
How is this free? What's the catch?
No catch. This started as a personal project for myself and friends after getting frustrated by continually losing out to bots. When possible, I may use affiliate links to help cover some of the cost of running the service.
